Margaret Holt meets with President Bush to discuss support of Trade Promotion Authority

WASHINGTON, D.C. August 2, 2001



Margaret Holt, president of The Holt Company, met with President Bush at the White House today to discuss her company’s role as an exporter and show her support for Trade Promotion Authority (TPA) legislation pending before Congress.

Holt was invited to Washington as part of a group of women business owners whose firms export American products and services. The event was sponsored by The Business Roundtable.

TPA was in place from 1974 to 1994, under Presidents Nixon, Ford, Carter, Reagan, Bush and Clinton. Each of these presidents used this authority to help expand U.S. economic growth and tear down foreign trade and investment barriers.

Since the expiration of TPA in 1994, the U.S. has fallen behind in negotiating trade agreements in foreign markets. Holt, whose company exports training programs and services, said the renewal of TPA is essential to the growth of her firm and thousands like it across the United States. “My company’s training programs are gaining popularity outside the United States. Exports like ours support over 12 million jobs in the United States,” said Holt. “I learned from the President that 97 percent of exporting companies are small-to-medium sized firms like mine.”

Holt Learning Continues International Expansion

Holt Learning Presents at ASTD Dallas

Holt Learning Introduces Web-Based Training

NEW YORK - September 30, 1999

The Holt Company announced today the first offering in a growing curriculum of web-based, interactive offerings: Business Writing Skills On-The-Web. This program, designed to be conducted within a business environment, enables participants to interact with a facilitator and their fellow participants for an in-depth and more intensive learning experience.

Business Writing On-The-Web is an asynchronous program, meaning that communication between participants and the facilitator do not have to be at the same time. This increases convenience as specific meeting times are not required. Participants can upload completed exercises and assignments for personalized feedback from the facilitator.
